Rick's Snow Report For Winter 2014 - 2015:

As of Tuesday; December 9, 2014.
We wish we had better news to give everyone, but the wind seemed to take over after the storm. We indeed received the 24 to 36 inches of snow, the week of Thanksgiving, but it was followed by warmer temps and wind. It then settled out to a fairly good base, but the warmer temps (45 degree average) continued into last week. This leaves us with an average snow depth between 8 and 30 inches, ridges blown bare, some grass showing, and a large need for more snow.

On a more positive note, we have a forecast of 60 to 70 percent of snow this weekend.

Sno-tel snow depths are as follows

20 to 30 inches...5% of the riding area
16 to 20 inches...40% of the riding area

12 to 16 inches...45% of the riding area

8 to 12 inches...10% of the riding area

Rick's scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best:

Powder Riding: (1)
No powder and some base base.
Trails: (2)
75% marked and grooming starts Monday the 15th.
Snow Depths: (3)
12 to 20 inches over 85% of the riding area.
Boondocking: (3)
Guess where the snow went? More snow in the trees makes for good boondocking and some base.
Cornice Jumping: (2)
Cornices have started to form, but little powder to land in.
Trail Riding: (3)
75% marked, most have some snow, and grooming starts next week.
Overall Riding Rating: (3)
The riders we have had report decent riding and the need for more snow. Some trails have blown bare, but some have 2 feet. Take your pick.
